I completed this oil painting of Jesus in April 2017 – it took 4 months to complete.
This was a huge undertaking for me – literally – over 5 feet tall by 4 feet wide!
It was my hope to paint with the essence of the Holy Spirit, as history has not provided the world a photographic image of The Christ. I pray the finished artwork elicits more of a feeling in the viewer, based on their own faith and imagination.
I worked closely with the owner of Golden Light Retreat Center, Karen Golden. Her personal vision played an integral role in the progress and details of the portrait image. My heartfelt thanks to Jim Miner for building the wooden stretcher frame for the canvas.

Musical Notes: I listened to music recorded by Peter Sterling entitled “Angel’s Gift“ prior to beginning to paint. I literally experienced a physical shift in my body and chest area, and I believe this particular music facilitated a wider opening – a metaphysical portal in my heart chakra – to receive Jesus. I also listened to music recorded by David Young entitled “Healing Chakras“ during several hours of actually painting this canvas. I experienced a dramatic mental shift as I became acutely aware of my internal dialogue. I heard myself doubt my artistic abilities in audible self criticism. “Who do you think you are to paint the Christ?” I believe David’s music facilitated a healing, and release of some of my low self worth, as I found my courage to ‘just keep painting Jesus’.
